Credits must be given to Xiaxue who had been one of the bigger stars back then when blogosphere was still pretty much at its infancy. She probably with her adobe photoshop skills managed to attract a few chee ko pek who would defend and worship the ground she walks on. But other than that, everyone would almost instantly agree that she is offensive and down right “too up on herself” to do anything great.
Other than showing off to Bintan Island Resort of how she is a famous blogger and can write nasty things about them, in truth she is pretty much an empty shell. She is a thing of the past.
Now contrast that with her counterpart in Malaysia. When Kennysia started blogging, he was a small time blogger who do hop over to Xiaxue’s blog every now and then. To be honest, Xiaxue’s blog was pretty reasonable and witty during her initial years. It was when she started blogging as if she is a superstar that deserve all attention that she lost her plots. She started getting on Malaysian nerves by name calling. Even insulted Bangladeshis.
But she was the one that gave kennysia his first big break. When Kennysia decided to post like xiaxue, the singapore and malaysia blogosphere started to take notice of him. And indeed his posts were witty and likeable and thus he was able to build up a strong audience. Using Alexa, one can see how Kenny’s traffic is still going strong but Xiaxue’s is sort of flattening and if anything dropping.
One can contrast the benefits that both are getting. Xiaxue probably got people to sponsor her first. But when things got nasty, everyone wrote to her sponsors to tell them to lose her or face massive online boycott. So she lost out quite a few sponsors. Even when she tried doing that pixel ad, the number of people signing up is pathetic. She probably really got all over her head when she was asked to star in a reality show by Mediacrap. But truth is, she doesn’t have much selling point.
But contrast that with Kenny who is being invited to cool concerts, advertorials for colleges, even McDonald’s advertises on Kennysia. He is truly attracting the big names. Whereas the most Xiaxue would ever get would be the HDB nail saloon ads.
Perhaps and unless Singapore can find their new Princess, Kenny will rule in both blogosphere. Agree?
I for one feel that Xiaxue doesn’t deserve to be included in the national archives. She degrades people who don’t share the same opinion (apple users are uppity - me included), tries to act smart and bitch way too much. She has no selling point at all.
Kenny Sia on the other hand, while I am not really a big fan of him, I have read one particular post on his Mount Kinabalu trip, and I actually felt that it was sincere, and true, just like any personal experience others would write. And he isn’t very high and mighty in comparison to Xiaxue. Keep it that way Kenny.
I’m pretty much turned off by siasuey’s blog. All those photoshopped pictures of her really make my stomach churn.
